Pachamama--Environment and Sustainability:
Just as the indigenous Andean
people honor Pachamama or Mother Earth, students who pursue this pathway will
focus on ideas related to the relationship between people and the environment.
Topics for exploration include: environmental justice, preservation,
conservation, engineering for the environment, sustainability, energy issues,
animal rights and advocacy and economic factors.

Caras—Intercultural Identity and Inequalities:
This pathway offers students
an opportunity to explore many facets of identity, and to deepen their
understanding of both the way people employ social masks, stereotypes, and
privileged perspectives, as well as the way authenticity and social justice reveal
possibilities for humanity. The faces, or caras, of
race, class, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and social class are key
identity markers that may be explored, as well as issues related to identity
such as, structural violence, immigration, globalization, human rights,
language and social identity, poverty and economic inequality.

In Japanese, Kaizen
means “good change”, and a focus on health and wellness certainly connects with
the idea of continuous improvement. Students with an interest in physical
and/or mental health, and fields related to wellness and healing may choose to
follow this pathway. Those who have a passion for exploring these ideas
through the lens of science, and others who seek a holistic understanding will
explore related issues such as: community health, mental health, food
insecurity and nutrition, conflict management, self-care, dependency, and
medical activism.

Annunziare--Arts and Media
A passion for expression,
design and literacy will inspire students who follow this pathway which carries
the title Annunziare. In Italian Annunziare conveys a holistic view of
communication and expression. Students may explore the way various modes
of expression including visual arts, architecture, dance, music, theater,
literary arts, multi-media, film, journalism, and game design function as
powerful tools for raising awareness and promoting social change. Topics
for deeper exploration may include: public art, art as activism, community art,
the art of subversion, media literacy, and information literacy.
